Ljubljana airport pickup, transfer to Lake Bled and hotel check in. Lake Bled is one of the most amazing Alpine resorts. Glacier lake nested beneath Julian Alps with only natural island in the middle of it, is simply must do when in Slovenia. We’ll do a Pletna boat ride, and will learn traditions of Bled area. During the summer time, swimming in the lake is must do.
In the Bled town we’ll head for the lunch, but most importantly try local “krem-šnita”, a cake literally invented it Bled. For the last part of the day we’ll enjoy Vintgar Gorge, on of the most amazing turquoise green rivers in whole of Slovenia. It amazing canyon, ideal for easy walks will simply blow you away. In the very late afternoon we are back to Ljubljana for dinner and overnight. Group dinner will be organised.
After delicious breakfast we’ll take easy 45 min ride to reach Postojna Cave. Postojnska Jama as locals call it, is 20 kilometre enjoyment of amazing galleries and chambers, calcite formations of stalactites and stalagmites, stunning train ride, altogether are making this the largest show-cave in whole of Europe. Don’t miss it. As soon as we are finished at the Postojna Cave, time to move towards Predjama Castle, situated in the middle of a towering cliff, a mere 9 km from Postojna Cave. Picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious and impregnable, it has been dominating the surrounding area, perched high up in the 123-metre high cliff, for more than 800 years. It is listed among the Guinness World Records as the largest cave castle in the world.
Later we move to Ljubljana and after hotel check-in we are ready to explore one of the most green cities in whole of Europe. Prešern square, Ljubljanica river, Triple and Dragon bridge, park Tivoli, Ljubljanski Grad and other major sites of this amazing city are all part of our locally guided walking tour. Later we’ll have a lunch break where we will try some of the most important local food and sweets. Later afternoon is reserved for some free time and dinner.
After the amazing two days in Slovenia, time to move on. As soon as we finish breakfast at our hotel in Ljubljana we’ll head towards capital of Croatia, and after two hours ride, we’ll arrive to city of Zagreb. At Zagreb we’ll meet local guide and conduct amazing walking tour and learn more about city history. After the tour, time for lunch. After lunch we’ll continue exploring Zagreb’s most important places and continue getting to know this city true nature.
In the afternoon, it free time to explore city on your own before dinner and overnight
After breakfast we depart from Zagreb and first spot of the day will be visit to Slunj. This old part of Slunj is known for its well-preserved mills and the picturesque little waterfalls along the Slunjčica river, which flows into the river Korana at this place. The Korana river originates at Plitvice Lakes National Park. At Rastoke, similar natural phenomena are occurring as at the Plitvice Lakes. This location is therefore often being referred to as "the Small Lakes of Plitvice". Both locations are interconnected by the Korana river. Cold or hot drinks at one of the local places are must.
Next in line are UNESCO world heritage, amazing Plitvice Lakes, true nature wonder. At Plitvice we will admire nature’s most amazing wonders made of water, limestone, green forest and much much more.
The waters flowing over the limestone and chalk have, over thousands of years, deposited travertine barriers, creating natural dams which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue today.
At the park, we’ll walk around, do few boat rides, learn more about the place and most importantly enjoy nature as much as we can.
In the later afternoon we shall depart towards Bihac, where we’ll cross border from Croatia and enter the country of wonderland, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dinner and relaxed evening walk around Bihac.
After breakfast we leave Bihac, where our first stop of the day is Una National Park. Nature area very similar to Plitvice with lots of water, limestone, green and clean.
We will spent the first part of the day exploring the ecologically protected area of the national Park Una making hikes through the forest and visiting the amazing area of Štrbački Buk waterfall. With one of the local families we’ll organise break with the lunch, and should you be interested, this region can be great opportunity to organise Bosnian local specialty with local family - roasted lamb.
Later we move towards Jajce. Amazing place as the medieval residence of the Bosnian Kings will blow you away. It is World’s only place with natural waterfall in the city center and birthplace of Yugoslavia. Idea and life during Yugoslavia will be our most commented topic so it definitely makes sense to visit where it all started.
Amazing Pliva Lakes and Old Mills are must see when visiting Jajce region.
We should arrive to Sarajevo in the later afternoon, when true local Bosnian dinner and free time will be organised
Morning hours are reserved for Sarajevo walking tour in aim explore the old parts of Sarajevo and city centre. We’ll visit places like Baščaršija (old market), famous European Jerusalem temples (Gazi Mosque, Orthodox and Catholic church and Jewish synagogue), Franz Ferdinand assassination spot and many other sites important to understand rich history of Sarajevo. Tour will be followed with recommendations where to eat great Bosnian food (halal if needed), where to eat some sweets, do shopping, and so on. For the lunch we’ll prepare Bosnian most famous dish called Ćevapi.
Afternoon hours are reserved for story of Siege of Sarajevo and visit to Tunnel Museum. Modern World longest siege is story of unbelievable desire for survival and ability of ordinary civilians to defend themselves against much stronger enemy.
Tour is enriched with visits to Olympic mountain of Trebevic for great panoramas and better understanding the story of Siege of Sarajevo. Later afternoon is free to explore city on your own.
On this day we give our guests to decide on their own which activities they would like to do. We are totally flexible company so we always prefer to keep our services as flexible as possible so that is why in this option we prefer to give our guest these two options.
Morning ride will take us through interesting suburbs of Sarajevo and areas of central Bosnia until we pass Ivan mountain and enter Herzegovina region. As soon as in Herzegovina, we’ll start descending, as region of Herzegovina is generally on lower altitudes and is totally different climate, so you’ll notice dramatic natural environment change.
First stop of the day is short visit to old part of Konjic town. Unique, prehistorically inhabited, famous for 17th century 6-arch Old Bridge, looming over turquoise Neretva river, usually very sunny place, is day’s perfect start.
Ride continues by passing large, dammed but very beautiful Jablanicko lake, with short stop at Jablanica where we learn WW2 story of “Neretva Battle” and “sniff” into the way how famous roasted lamb on the spit is made.
After Jablanica, we keep going, and after short ride arrive to Blagaj. Blagaj town is home to Buna river spring - Europe’s most beautiful, most powerful, clean and drinkable karst river spring, settled beneath few hundred meters high rock. Water comes out of quite large but stunningly deep cave, which springs amazing 43 cubic meters of water per second. Can you imagine this?
Just next to the spring, under the rock, is home to Blagaj Tekke - Dervish house, dating most likely pre or early Ottoman era from early 16th century, as unique sacral-residential example of Islamic architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
For Muslim travelers “Tekija” is place where prayers are hosted 5 times a day and can be attended if wanted.
After visit to “Blagajska Tekija” and “Izvor rijeke Bune” we stay there for bit longer. It is time for lunch. Due to famousness and cleanliness of Buna river the most important thing to taste in Blagaj today is local trout. That is why we don’t leave the place before we offer our guests to try locally prepared trout on “Blagaj Way”, enjoying amazing scenery of Buna river spring and Dervish house next to it. Vegetarians don’t worry, we have solutions for you as well :)
Later only, 15 minute further it is time for Mostar experience which is the most important jewel on our “Herzegovina Necklace” day trip.
As soon as we arrive to Mostar we’ll check into our hotel and start our 2 hour walking tour which will cover most important sites and locations in Mostar. We focus at Mostar’s Old Bridge, Old Bazaar and Old Town, but offer stories of Mostar’s uniqueness, in regard to historical and cultural diversity.
We learn about the Bridge, it’s rise and fall, and how it had risen again. We learn about Siege of Mostar, its pre and post siege period. We learn about why it is called Mostar. We learn about Mostarians. We recreate Mostar for you and with you. We learn Mostar.
In the later evening it will be dinner and some time to relax.
Free morning in Mostar and as soon as we depart our first stop is stunningly nested above Neretva river, small town of Počitelj (“Počivati” - Bos.”to rest in peace”), which will be easy one hour uphill walking activity, accompanied with a stories of town’s development and strategic importance during its 600+ year long written history.
At our next stop we will visit amazing area of Kravice Waterfalls, where during summer time we prefer to have a swim. We call them small Niagara. Why, you better come and see for yourself.
For true wine lovers, region of Herzegovina offers amazing wine tasting opportunities and this activity will be organised on request.
In the later afternoon we are arriving to Split, and as soon as we check into our hotel we are ready to have some seafood dinner and easily explore amazing Diocletian palace and Split riva.
The morning is reserved for the city walking tour in beautiful Split, where we will learn a lot about this, largest Dalmatian city, and the second largest city of Croatia. After the city walking tour, we will have a lunch break, and have the opportunity to try some of the most delicious specialties of this region. UNESCO protected Diocletian Palace is true gem of this region and its main pedestrian area of famous "Splitska Riva" will make enjoy this day to maximum.
The afternoon is reserved for the visit to Trogir, which is situated 25 km north of Split. The Old Town of Trogir listed as UNESCO world cultural heritage. This charming small city is definitely a great destination to visit for a half day visit from Split. In the end of the day, we are going back to Split for overnight and some free time too.
After free morning in Split, we will continue our trip towards Dubrovnik. On our way, we will visit Ston, which is well known by its walls. These walls are a series of defensive stone walls, that have surrounded and protected the maritime city – state of Dubrovnik (Ragusa). For oyster lovers Ston is truly paradise on earth, so we recommend delicious lunch here. It can be organised as lunch only, or full time oyster learning experience, as region of Ston is Makkah of the Croatian oyster world.
Arrival to Dubrovnik in the afternoon and free time to explore city on your own, followed with dinner.
After breakfast we are ready for full day in Dubrovnik. Firstly we will do morning city tour with a local guide, followed with Srdj cable car ride. During the tour we’ll get to learn importance of ancient city state of Ragusa, present day Dubrovnik and get to hear its most interesting stories.
Lunch break is reserved for some local fish specialties as Adriatic sea is true pearl of the world seas. A beer, cocktail or a coffee at one of Dubrovnik most inspiring cafes overlooking Adriatic sea is not to miss activity.
Dubrovnik in the afternoon is reserved for Lokrum boat ride, where during the summer it can be great swimming time. Optional are Dubrovnik city walls walk.
Later afternoon is reserved for some free time and dinner.
We will start the 13th day tour earlier, as this will be a full day exploring the coast of Montenegro. The tour starts from Dubrovnik around 8.30am where we will drive south alongside Adriatic coast, and our first stop will be Perast. A baroque town in the municipality of Kotor with its two stunning islands: Sveti Djordje and Gospa od Skrpjela. Short boat ride to explore Island Gospa od Skrpjela is definitely worth doing and learning a story of man made island.
Later we move towards Kotor, where we will have local city walking tour, in aim to explore small but amazing city of Kotor. We shall climb the high walls of Kotor It is one of the most beautiful places in Montenegro, with impressive medieval architecture, and cultural monuments.
After the city tour in Kotor, we are going to continue our journey towards Budva, one of the Oldest cities of Montenegro, where we are going to have a lunch. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Old part of the town, and have some shopping there. If you are taking this tour during the summertime you can have some swimming too, as Budva has really amazing beaches.
Day will end in Budva region, with dinner following up and some free time to walk along nice Budva beaches.
